Possible Course Pathways for Continuing-Student Chemistry Majors

To determine the sequence of required courses necessary for completing a major in chemistry or preparing for the MCAT, please select from the categories listed below:
  1. Students who finished only CHM 11 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  2. Students who finished CHM 11 and 12 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  3. Second-year students who finished CHM 11, 12, and 21 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  4. First year students who finished CHM 11, 12, and 21 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  5. Second-year students who finished CHM 11, 12, 21 and 22 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  6. Second-year students who finished CHM 11, 12, 21, 22, and 23 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  7. Second-year students who finished CHM 11, 12, 21, 22, 23, and 31 at end of 2007-2008 academic year
  8. Third year students who finished CHM 11, 12, 21, 22, 23, and 31 at end of 2007-2008 academic year

For students already enrolled at Furman, we will only require 9 courses for the major plus seminar and research.

Students that have not finished CHM 22 by the end of the 2007-2008 academic year must take the new bioorganic course and the new introduction to inorganic course instead of CHM 32.

Majors planning graduate work are encouraged to take at least one 2-unit elective during their senior year.

Please consult with Dr. Lon Knight if you have special scheduling difficulties.
