REU RESEARCH STATEMENTS (PDF):
SUMMER 2009 APPLICATIONS (PDF):

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is designed to provide undergraduate students with an authentic research experience. The Grand Challenges REU program is different from every other chemistry REU site in the country in that it seeks not only to provide an outstanding summer experience for students, but also to enhance the undergraduate research infrastructure as a whole.

The Furman University REU site will accept applications for Summer 2009 from November 15, 2008 through February 15, 2009 from interested student/faculty teams. Undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (and plan to be enrolled in during the fall term of 2009) are welcome to apply. Students from under-represented minority groups are especially encouraged to submit an application.

Please note that applications are accepted ONLY from teams composed of a faculty member and one or two students. Individual students cannot be admitted to the program.

The program will run May 18, 2008 through July 24, 2008. Students will receive a stipend of $4000 and faculty will receive $5000. For more information, please contact the program director, Prof. Timothy Hanks.
